ABOUT ANIMALS FOR LIFE
Animals for Life is a no-kill animal shelter established in 1996. All animals in their care are spayed or neutered, examined by a vet, and vaccinated before they are adopted to loving parents.
Animals for Life's mission does not end with adoption. AFL volunteers follow up with adoptive parents to offer advice, support, and resource services if needed.
Animals for Life values their volunteers, who improve the lives of animals by:
- Walking and grooming dogs
- Helping with shelter laundry
- Filing and computer work
- Becoming an adoption counselor at the canine shelter
- Responding to Regional Help Line calls
- Helping with digital photography and graphic design
- Joining a committee to help with event planning
- Developing humane education programs
- Volunteering time for AFL adoption and fundraising events
- Becoming a foster parent
AFL holds orientation sessions for new volunteers on the 1st Wednesday of every month at 6pm at the shelter. If interested in attending the next volunteer orientation, or if you are generally interested in assisting Animals for Life, please contact them. Interested individuals may also just come to the orientation without contacting AFL first.
Animals for Life's shelter is located in Middlebury, CT, in the Town of Middlebury Public Works Complex, near the intersection of Rt. 63 and Woodside Avenue, next to Maggie McFly's. Hours are:
- Thursday, 5-7
- Saturday and Sunday, 12-3
